Introducing the New Full-Day Legacy Workshop (A Promise Kept)

It is impossible to not see the tremendous desire we have as humans to emerge from our pandemic cloister, to find a renewed sense of who we are, to reimagine a world we would like to live in and leave to our children. There are stories within each of us that speak to the difficult road we have travelled and the meaning we have made from our experiences. In the half-day Legacy Workshops I have given throughout the pandemic years, I have heard time and again how fragile life has felt, and how important the workshops have been in giving people a safe and trusting space to talk with kindred spirits about the disarray in our collective lives and how we’re find meaning and joy. The common theme has been, “we need more time together!”, and I promised I would make that happen.

As if fate was a co-conspirator, two amazingly talented friends who have followed the Legacy Workshop from its inception six years ago nudged me ahead with their promise to join the new venture. Together, we created a full-day retreat that adds a lovely complement of meditative experiences to our guided reflections on life and legacy. Our full-day retreat offers participants the luxury of slowing down and taking the time to be truly mindful. Mindful in how we listen, taste and smell; mindful of how gentle movement can free our bodies to support the opening of our hearts and minds; mindful of the beauty to be seen all around us.

As we gather in a lovely, soothing environment, Kelly Emme will guide us through very gentle, intentional movements to relax our bodies and help us breathe a little deeper. She’ll create soothing sounds using crystal and metal singing bowls, drums, and chimes to help us tune in to the nuances of our listening. We’ll use our lunch time together to discover the pleasures of mindful eating. From this place of mindfulness, we can begin to see what is inside us waiting to be shared, and to understand how we can form a more a peaceful, tranquil life.

On the practical side of life and legacy, Alanna Mack will guide us in thinking about the challenges that can arise in the later years of life and making our wishes known to others – what it means to make the ultimate gift of peace.

We lovingly named our expanded Legacy Workshop experience, “Your Story, Your Legacy Retreat: A Full Sensory Exploration”. In our sessions together participants will receive gentle guidance to:

  • Explore the life lessons that made them stronger, wiser, and truer.

  • Discover the value they have created in their life that will be meaningful to others.
  • Connect with like-hearted others in a way that is affirming, encouraging, and healing.
  • Engage in gentle, meditative movement that will inspire their imagination.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of what matters most in their life, and how they want to be remembered.
  • Leave with essential tools for making decisions and having conversations with loved ones about your legacy and end of life wishes.

What greater gift could you treat yourself to than a quiet day of gentle movement, deep listening, and guided inspiration to renew and strengthen you for the journey ahead?
